The Patriotic Front (PF) has joined growing criticism of the UPND government over the recent killings of artisanal miners in Mufumbwe District, describing the incident as a national tragedy.
PF Media Director Edwin Lifwekelo said the government must abandon its arrogance and begin listening to the voices of ordinary Zambians.
“People are hungry, poor, and frustrated,” Lifwekelo said. “Instead of self-praise and hiding behind fake economic statistics, the government must face the truth and act with humility.”
He warned that poverty and unemployment levels are dangerously high under the current administration, accusing the government of using manipulated statistics to mislead the public.
Mr. Lifwekelo urged the government to address the root causes of unrest, such as youth unemployment and food insecurity, rather than responding with violence.
The PF has called for accountability and an end to what it terms state-sponsored brutality, especially in economically marginalized communities.
