ZAMBIA Railways Limited (ZRL) Managing Director Cuthbert Malindi, has held high-level talks with three regional transport firms aimed at enhancing cooperation in railway operations and cross-border logistics.
Mr Malindi recently embarked on a strategic visit to Dar es Salaam, where he engaged with the chief executive officers of Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA), Malawi Cargo Centre Limited (MCCL), and Zambia Cargo and Logistics (Zamcargo).
The discussions focused on strengthening partnerships, improving cargo handling, and fostering operational integration along the Dar es Salaam Corridor.
The meeting reaffirmed the parties’ collective commitment to enhancing regional rail connectivity and service delivery.
“Our goal is to create a seamless and efficient railway network that supports regional trade, reduces transport costs, and delivers tangible economic value,” Mr Malindi said.
“This visit wasn’t just about familiarisation — it was about forging lasting partnerships for shared success.”
TAZARA Chief Executive Officer Bruno Ching’andu, underscored the importance of collaboration in unlocking the full potential of the regional rail network.
“By aligning our efforts, we can offer customers a more reliable and integrated service. TAZARA is eager to rekindle its partnerships with ZRL and Zamcargo, which have long served Zambia’s interests,” Mr Ching’andu said.
Echoing similar sentiments, Zamcargo Chief Executive Officer Vyonsi Manda highlighted the need for joint efforts to enhance operational efficiency.
“As a bulk cargo clearing and forwarding entity, Zamcargo remains a strong proponent of rail transport.
We are committed to this partnership to ensure cargo moves swiftly, safely, and efficiently from port to final destination,” Mr Manda stated.
The parties agreed to maintain regular engagement and pursue joint projects focused on modernising infrastructure, improving operational efficiency, and attracting new business to the corridor.
This engagement marked a significant step towards regional operational integration, improved service delivery, and the promotion of seamless cross-border rail transport.
