YOUTH, Sport, and Arts Minister Elvis Nkandu, has urged sports federations to document the country’s sporting achievements. His call came during the presentation of the book “Our Story Since 1964”, a historical look at Zambia’s successes in the Olympics and other major ompetitions.
The book was presented to Nkandu by National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) president Alfred Foloko and secretary-general Boniface Kambikambi ahead of its official launch tomorrow. Speaking after receiving the book, Nkandu emphasised the importance of sharing the nation’s sporting stories. “We have talented sports personalities whose stories deserve to be shared,” he said. “I call on other organisations to work with NOCZ to produce more books that can document Zambia’s success stories at major games.” Foloko thanked the minister for his continued support of sports development. “We appreciate the ministry’s commitment to promoting sports in the country,” Foloko said. Nkandu also congratulated Foloko on his re-election as vice president of the African Judo Union, highlighting the importance of having sports administrators like him in key global positions. The book launch will take place tomorrow from 18:00 to 20:00 at Southern Sun Hotel in Lusaka.
