The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services has begun disbursing K1.2 billion in Social Cash Transfers (SCTs) for the May–June 2025 cycle, targeting more than 1.3 million vulnerable households.
Ministry Spokesperson Glenda Nachinga confirmed that beneficiaries receive K800 monthly, with households including persons with disabilities receiving K1,200.
She said digital platforms now reach 78% of beneficiaries, improving accountability and reducing human contact in the payment process.
Ms Nachinga also highlighted the ministry’s ongoing efforts to link SCT recipients with livelihood empowerment programs, including entrepreneurship training and productive grants, to ensure long-term poverty alleviation.
