President Hakainde Hichilema has reiterated his government’s commitment to improving the lives of Zambians despite facing significant challenges, including an unprecedented drought and the substantial national debt inherited by his administration. Speaking at the Reformed Church of Zambia (RCZ) Mass Ordination and Commissioning Service in Kamwala, President Hichilema emphasized his vision of fostering unity, peace, and harmony among all citizens, irrespective of their origin.
“We are one people, all made in the image of God,” the President said, underscoring his belief in unity as a cornerstone for national progress. He encouraged Zambians to embrace diversity and work towards strengthening bonds of love and peace, which have made Zambia a model of harmony in the region.
Acknowledging the partnership between the government and the church, President Hichilema highlighted the significant role the church plays in national development. He praised the RCZ for its efforts in supporting education, particularly through the implementation of free education that has enabled over two million children to attend school.
The President called on the church to continue its mission of promoting peace and unity, as these values are critical for achieving economic growth. He also urged public servants to uphold integrity and separate public resources from personal interests, reminding them of their accountability to the people and to God.
Despite the obstacles, President Hichilema reaffirmed his dedication to addressing Zambia’s challenges and called for collective effort and prayer to overcome them.
