The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has challenged CAF envoys to aim high and target reaching the Group Stages of the CAF Inter-club championships.
FAZ president Andrew Kamanga said the association is keeping tabs on the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup envoys after the draws were conducted last week.
Zambian champions Red Arrows will kick off their Champions League campaign against Malawian champions Nyasa Big Bullets while Ndola giants Zesco United will be up against Zimbabwean envoys Dynamos FC in the CAF Confederations Cup.
Kamanga said there is need for both Red Arrows and Zesco United to do well in their respective competitions and help increase the country’s target of getting back to having more representation.
“We are looking at the teams targeting to be at least in the group stages of their respective competitions. It is not exactly how many clubs you have in CAF competitions but what you do with the slots you have. We are confident that they will represent our nation well when the tournament kicks off next month,” Kamanga said. The FAZ Chief is happy that CAF has approved the two stadia Levy Mwanawasa and National Heroes to host CAF inter-club competitions.
