The Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Hon. Jack J. Mwiimbu SC., MP, has urged the public to refrain from making inflammatory statements and hate speech surrounding the funeral of former President Edgar Lungu. Speaking to the nation, Mr. Mwiimbu emphasized the importance of maintaining solemnity, unity, love, and compassion during this period of national mourning. He described Lungu’s passing as a collective loss for all Zambians, encouraging citizens to set aside political differences in honor of the late leader.
The Minister extended his condolences to the Lungu family and called for support and respect as they await the arrival of the former president’s remains from South Africa. Mr. Mwiimbu further appealed to the nation to mourn peacefully and respectfully, ensuring that Lungu receives a dignified send-off befitting his role as Zambia’s former president.
