OVER 20 Parliamentary Standing Committees which among others include Cabinet Affairs, Public Accounts, Government Assurances, and National Security and Foreign Affairs, will in the next two weeks begin to sit to deliberate on various matters affecting the nation.
The committees will sit from January 13, to January 24, 2025 and from January 27, to February 7, 2025.
Some of the subjects to be considered will include digital migration in Zambia, operations of the National Health Insurance Authority, private sector participation in the energy sector and review of legislation governing state of emergencies in the country.
Other subjects will be a review of the state of infrastructure in defence forces, review of the nation’s rail transport, review of Government interventions on streetism and there will be consideration of the Audit Report for the 2023 books for parastatals.
Further, the Public Accounts Committee will consider Treasury Minutes, outstanding and emerging issues while the Local Government Accounts Committee will consider the Auditor General’s Report on the accounts of local authorities for the year 2023 and for the Constituency Development Fund for 2023.
“Those who wish to make submissions to committees on topics under discussion or indeed any other matter, either as individuals or on behalf of their organisations should ensure that they send written submissions accompanied by signed notes to Parliament addressed to the Clerk of the National Assembly,” the notice said in part.
