AN ACTIVIST, Inambao Milupi has called for urgent and enhanced development in Chirundu Constituency.
Mr Milupi said he was concerned that despite Chirundu being one of Zambia’s oldest constituencies, it remained significantly underdeveloped.
He noted that while the area received its allocation of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), many planned projects were incomplete.
“This is a border town, which should have modern amenities to facilitate trade between Zambia and Zimbabwe,” Mr Milupi said.
He emphasized the need for proper infrastructure and access points in Chirundu Central to stimulate growth and economic activity.
Mr Milupi said the constituency was lacked clean and safe drinking water forcing women and children to go and fetch the commodity in the Zambezi River, which is infested with crocodiles.
He called for a well-developed and coordinated water supply system.
“There is also need for an all-weather road network in Chirundu to connect communities and promote equitable development,” Mr Milupi said.
He further wondered why the area did not have modern ablution system for improved hygiene and public health,” he said.
