The Lusaka City Council (LCC), in collaboration with Polish company LUG Light Factory and the Zambia Road Safety Trust (ZRST), has completed Phase 1 of an on-grid smart street lighting project on Independence Avenue.
According to LCC Public Relations Officer Chola Mwamba, the project uses energy-efficient technology to reduce power consumption while enhancing road safety and urban visibility.
“This pilot project demonstrates our commitment to modern, sustainable urban infrastructure,” Ms. Mwamba said, adding that the initiative highlights the importance of partnerships in driving development.
The new lighting system includes both on-grid and off-grid solutions and is equipped with advanced technology that allows for remote control and monitoring, improving maintenance efficiency and reducing operational costs.
