ZAMBIA and China have launched the Belt and Road disease-oriented imaging training programme.
Head of Radiology Department at West China Hospital, Lu Su, says the programme is a big step in cooperation between China and Zambia in the medical imaging sector, showing shared commitment to better healthcare and international teamwork.
Professor Lu said by boosting the skills of medical professionals in disease-oriented imaging, Zambia and China can truly make a difference.
Prof Lu is confident that through this training, the two countries would strengthen the exchange and cooperation in the field of radiological technology, and contribute to enhancing the health and well-being of the people.
He said West China Hospital, a pioneer of medical imaging field in China, is dedicated to technology sharing.
Prof Lu said the radiology department was serving over 2.3 million patients yearly, and was running a national training platform, and had held several Belt and Road international training sessions, spreading high-quality medical resources globally.
And President of Zambia Medical Association, Kaumba Tolopu said the initiative was offering immense hope for Zambia’s healthcare.
Dr Tolopu said as the country was strengthening its health system, access to advanced medical imaging and specialised diagnostic skills was paramount.
He said the “Belt and Road” initiative was fostering understanding and shared prosperity.
Meanwhile, Li Zhenlin, chairman of the Chinese Medical Association Imaging Technology Branch said the “Belt and Road” initiative was for global medical cooperation.
He says this training focuses on sharing imaging techniques and diagnostic experience in the cardiac and neurological fields.
